Gryffyn is really liking her jumparoo, but just gets exhausted after a few jumps...

The girls and I just returned from a week visit to Birmingham to visit my parents and grandparents. We had so much fun, and we even got to go to a wedding! Before I show the pictures from the trip, here are a few cute pictures of the girls before we left.

Gryffyn has started enjoying the jumparoo, but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it just yet. Her feet touch the ground, but she seems to think she is just suppose to stand there. Hannah decided to pull her chair next to the jumparoo so that she could be a good big sister and help Gryffyn to jump by pushing down on the sidebar.
This made for a lot of giggles from Gryffyn, which made a lot of giggles from Hannah.
I also have to brag through a picture...Hannah has started eating corn on the cob. I love watching her eat the corn on the cob, but I don't want to chance her getting bored with her meals. I like to mix it up a little bit and look at different parenting websites that show fun ways to craft meals and this is what they suggested for corn on the cob...
Just another picture on Hannah and Gryffyn being sweet...I had to remember this picture while driving down to Birmingham. I endured 163 miles of crying from two girls until they finally passed out for the last 49 miles. Big sigh of relief when I pulled into my parents' driveway.
Here are some cute pictures from the trip...

Need Gryffyn to fall asleep? Give her to Papa with a bottle.
Want Gryffyn to laugh? Let Dearie sing to her.

At the beginning of the blog, I mentioned that we got to go to a wedding. My mom's friend, Traci, invited us to go to her daughter's wedding this past Saturday. Whitney was such a beautiful bride! Here are a few pictures from the reception. I didn't get any pictures from the wedding because Mom and I were a little busy with the girls.

The beginning of August has been pretty entertaining up here in Memphis. Gryffyn is becoming more animated and TALKATIVE, which Hannah is feeding off of pretty well. The first two pictures are from Gryffyn finding something funny (no idea what it was) and Hannah feeding off of that energy and getting the giggles herself. Of course, this made Dan and I laugh pretty hard too!

Our Trivia Group had a party for two of the members the first Saturday of August. This was a party to celebrate Brandy's birthday and Stephanie's birthday. We had a lot of fun, and I got to enjoy my first Key Lime Pie made by Mary...it was amazing and she claims very easy to make!

Here are a few pictures from the gathering...

Hunter in his highchair after some of Mary's spaghetti (see the sauce on his nose?)

Hunter crashing in his dad's lap

And two traditions continued that night for the Trivia Group...

(1) If one of our girls can't fall asleep, we just hand her over to Tom...minutes later she and Tom are BOTH asleep!

(2) One year old finds everything Eric says SO entertaining!

The next day we enjoyed some Eat Well Chinese Buffet where Hannah chowed down on some corn on the cob...
The girls have also enjoyed some time with their Aunt B and Uncle David. This past week Brandy and David's air conditioner at their house went out and it took a week to get it repaired. This was extremely inconvenient for them (not enjoying the comforts of their own home), but we enjoyed having them as house guests. Hannah liked following David around the house and waving goodbye to both Dan and David in the morning when they left for work. Gryffyn got some extra attention from her godmother and even got Brandy to sing to her.

My other favorite from this past week is Hannah watering the plant out front with her dad. I love this plant that I got from my parents this past Mother's Day, but am horrible at remembering to water it! Thank goodness for Dan and Hannah.

The end of July we started to experience some fun with our internet connection...meaning that we kept losing internet connection. So I do apologize that I have not been able to update the blog, but I did continue to take pictures. These pictures on this posting are from July 26th when we first attempted to feed Gryffyn solid food. Introducing solid food includes starting with rice cereal mixed with formula, which is extremely bland but the texture helps with the introduction process.

We started doing this when Gryffyn became 4 months, which was the same time we introduced solids to Hannah. After a week of successful rice cereal, Gryffyn had her 4 month checkup at the doctor's office. We were told at this time to wait introducing any other solids until she reached the 6 month mark. The reason the doctor suggested this is because Gryffyn had trouble with her formula and finding the best kind of formula for her stomach. So the doctor wants her to have no issues with her formula for 2 more months and then we will try again.

Hope ya'll enjoy the pictures as well as the video. I will post more tomorrow from the beginning of August.

I am sorry it has taken me so long to post new pictures of the girls. I think I have spoiled a few of you by posting once a week...I might have even spoiled myself since these are some really cute moments.

Our internet connection at home has been acting up which has made trying to post pictures extremely interesting in the cursing-at-the-computer-wanting-to-throw-something type of way.

But now it is up and running and what better way to start a post then showing a beautiful girl smiling. This is Gryffyn a few days ago right before we started Tummy Time on her blanket that my cousin Liesa gave her. Gryffyn smiles before Tummy Time, not during, and definitely not after! I am doing Tummy Time more often with her in hopes that she will start rolling over soon. She will kick her legs so that she changes positions, and she will lift both legs and arms so she looks like she is flying like Superwoman, but no rolling over.
In this post, I have some extremely sad news to share. One of my dear friends, Lauri, is moving with her family to St. Louis in August. I met Lauri last year through a Bible Study group at Faith Lutheran Church. She has been an extremely supportive and caring friend who is willing to watch our kids at a moments notice. I will miss her terribly, but understand that this move is the best for her family. With that being said, the girls and I wanted to get a little extra time with Lauri's kids, Lindsey and Gavin. I asked, and Lauri accepted, the idea of letting me borrow Lindsey and Gavin this past Monday for a few hours so Hannah could play with her friends. Gryffyn loved watching them play and got out a few great giggles.
Gavin on the trike

We are also trying to work on Gryffyn sitting up. She likes sitting in her Bumpo Chair for 15 minutes at a time now. Hannah likes to sit next to her when this happens and talk to her. She is really good at trying to include Gryffyn in things...I hope this continues!

This video cracks me up! It is a video of Hannah cooking while I am cooking dinner. She is starting to understand the difference between yes and no, and tries to use her words to convey her understanding.

The first week of July was extremely busy. Hannah sure knows how to unwind though. She likes to watch a few programs from PBS Sprout at night. Nina and Star on the "Goodnight Show" show a different yoga/stretch exercise each night. Sometimes Hannah is sitting down watching the program before or over in her playarea with her blocks, but whatever she is doing--she stops and gets ready to participate with the exercises. This is her doing the sunshine pose.
This is my first picture with the girls and myself (all looking at the camera at the SAME time). Gotta love it!
The first weekend of July consisted of a LOT of traveling. We went to Jasper, AL Saturday morning to my Aunt Sherrell's house to celebrate my Granmere's (my father's mother) 90th birthday. Now her birthday is not until September 1st, but this was the best time for my dad's family and my aunt's family to get together AND this way Granmere gets two celebrations.

After the party, we continued our traveling weekend by going to my parent's house in Hoover, AL. On Sunday we went to Mamaw and Papaw's house to hang out for a bit and then traveled back home.

Something that has been weighing on me is Hannah's hair and her mullet. Her hair grows VERY slowly in the front, but just keeps going in the back. SO I cut her hair, and it turned out horrible. This prompted me to go to the hair salon (which I should have done in the first place) and get it cut. It has a pageboy look going on that will grow out in about 4 weeks.

This video is of Hannah flirting with Jackson at Granmere's party. Watch for the kiss.

Last Week of June

It took a LOT of cleaning, but I finally found my cord for my camera to upload pictures. I didn't realize how many pictures I take of the girls, but the uploading process has been extremely time consuming due to getting behind a few days. I am just going to post the highlights from the last week of June and the first week of July. These are from June.

Gryffyn has started sitting up for a few minutes if she has assistance with the Bumbo chair. She seems pretty entertained sitting closer to the ground in the chair and she gets to watch Hannah play with her Legos blocks and build (tear down) different buildings with Daniel. She just sits and giggles, which makes Hannah bring her blocks, which makes Gryffyn giggle more...a very cute never-ending cycle.
It was extremely hot in Memphis the last week of June. To help Hannah cool off after a hot day, I started freezing her Danonino Yogurts with a spoon attached so she can enjoy a healthy popsicle.
Only downside is that it makes a huge mess.
I hope that everyone is able to view these videos because they are so cute and make me laugh. One video is of Gryffyn having Tummy Time and trying to talk. I am assuming that she is complaining about her mother making her do Tummy Time and how unfair it is. The other video is of Hannah dancing in the car while listening to the radio. It is probably not the best song for her to listen to, but she really loves rap and hip-hop.
