Gryffyn arrives on the scene!

Gryffyn Bell Weinberg was born March 31, 2010. She joined our family at 2:13pm weighing 7 pounds 5 ounces with a height of 20 1/2 inches. As soon as she arrived, she had visitors who couldn't wait to say hello! Gryffyn has always been our second name choice (boy or girl) and Dan and I feel very lucky to be able to use that name on this sweet baby girl. Her middle name (Bell) is a two-fold name...Daniel's mother's middle name was Bell and Gryffyn's godmother-to-be's maiden name was Bell...which made it feel just right!

How does Hannah get ready for baby sister's arrival?

One might be wondering how to prepare a 15-month old for the arrival of her new baby sister...you continue to spoil her rotten and laugh at her every day antics.

I have posted a lot (for me) tonight because my mother is visiting and if there is any way I am going to be able to keep track of what pictures where taken when and why, then I need to post them ASAP. This is a very lucky thing for you because you get to see more info about Hannah and the happenings in the Weinberg family, but PLEASE do not get use to this special treatment because you will be sadly disappointed in the future!

March 25th

All we had on the docket for March 25th was Hannah's 15 month check-up at the doctor's office. She had to dress her best for the doctor's office and so she wore her Valentine's Day outfit from her grandparents and her squeaker shoes from Uncle David and Aunt B.

At her 15-month checkup, the doctor said that she was right on target with weight and height (weight 26 pounds, height 31 inches), but was due for a growth spurt by her next checkup in 3 months.

The doctor was also impressed that she could point to her nose, ears, mouth, and hair. Hannah can also say "Momma", "Da-Da", "Hello", "Buh-Buh", and "Bob" (which we think stands for Aunt B). The doctor wants her to work on voicing more words, but thought it was pretty cool that she understood the signs for "sit down", "turn around", and "dirty".

The rest of the day was just a relaxation day where Hannah flipped through her "magazine" which are pictures from magazines that I put in a binder for her.

March 24th

March 24th was a day of lots of excitement! The girls (my mom, Hannah, baby-to-be, and me) went to Olive Garden, Babies'R'Us, and Hancock Fabrics. This may not seem like a lot to most people, but I was exhausted afterward!

After our adventure (and Hannah's nap), we decided to reward ourselves with some playtime outside in the backyard. I really enjoyed this playtime, because I got to sit on my new patio furniture with my feet up and relax while my mother pushed Hannah in her swing.

The big plus with my mother coming up to visit, is that she brought some of my grandmother (Mamaw's) food for me. Mamaw made me some chicken and rice soup...which was delicious and I was kind enough to share.

Hannah really seemed to enjoy the soup!

Hannah was also kind enough to show her Dearie where the grocery store was and went shopping with her, so I could make Daniel some Chicken Pot Pie. While they were out, my mother bought me a chocolate milkshake from Sonic. The only catch...I had to share it with Hannah (and Gryffyn).

March 23rd

(Blog followers: don't get use to this consistency...This is all from my mother's camera, and I only have one child at this point!)

Tuesday, March 23rd, Hannah woke up ready to play and show her Dearie (my mother) her play area. Hannah received a pink Lego wagon from my brother Joshua for her birthday and has loved putting the Lego blocks together and tearing apart Daniel's creations. She has just learned the art of climbing into the Lego wagon (much to her mother's happiness...thanks David!). Here is documentation of her new trick.

While Hannah was showing my mother her new tricks in the Lego wagon, I had an appointment with the x-ray machine at Baptist Hospital. The x-rays determined that the kidney has gotten so inflamed and infected that the doctors don't think that I should wait until April 14th (original induction date) to have the baby. So, they decided that the new induction date will be next Wednesday, March 31st.

As much as I enjoyed the x-ray, I was ready to get home and find out what entertainment Hannah was creating. She was actually pretty calm, enjoying her new chair and not letting go of her Easter card from her grandparents.

March 22nd

The night of March 17th most people were celebrating St. Patrick's Day...whether they were Irish or not. I was celebrating it in the Labor and Delivery room of Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women in Memphis. No, I did not have a baby yet. I was just in a lot of pain. Turns out my kidney stones on my right side have caused an infection and inflammation. So, what did I do Thursday morning? I called my mommy and asked her to come help with Hannah starting on Monday.

When she arrived on Monday (March 22nd), she arrived with gifts for Hannah and the baby-to-be. Technically these are Easter gifts, but we figured things would be getting a little bit more busy around Easter, so we went ahead and let Hannah open her gifts. She received a pink princess chair for outside, a doll, and an Easter dress. My mom also brought a dress for the baby-to-be.
