RSV

So this week, I had to take Hannah to the doctor. She has, but doesn't have RSV. RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection) is a respiratory virus that infects the lungs and breathing passages. RSV is the most common cause for bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children under the age of 1 year (according to CDC).

Hannah started having symptoms on Saturday night (runny nose, cough, reduced appetite). Although we were worried about her runny nose and cough, the reduced appetite was what made me take her to the doctor. I mean, c'mon...have you met her dad? They both have a healthy appetite!

The doctor said that she does have RSV but doesn't because she has not had a fever. We are still suppose to monitor her for two weeks and try not to expose her to others who are sick, but she seems to be doing much better than she was earlier this week. We are using a humidifer in her room every night and that seems to help with her breathing...now it's just watch and wait.

On the cute front, Hannah did get to use her Bumbo chair for the first time today. Her grandparents got this chair for her for Christmas. Of course she is not smiling because I had the camera in front of her, but before I got the camera out she was talking up a storm with her "ohs" and "ahs".

Last Weekend

Yes, I am a little behind on my last blog. These pictures are from last weekend. We had my parents in town visiting for Hannah's baptism. I do not have pictures of the actual baptism yet, but as soon as I get them they will be posted. So...anywho....summary of last weekend through pictures....

Hannah: "What is this goofy man talking about? He is so entertaining!"

So Saturday night, we decided to stay in because any restaurants would be to crowded with people celebrating Valentine's Day. Mom and Dad cooked breakfast for dinner, which was a real treat. The sad part is my mom didn't invite the dogs as dinner guests, so Oliver decided to act like his name sake (Oliver Twist) and get his food when no one was looking. He stole a whole potato off of the counter and ran for it....sadly for him, he did not get very far.

Zoo and Dedication Ceremony

This weekend our friends, Mary Catherine and Ross visited Memphis. We met up with them, Ross's brother Brian, and Jonathan at the Zoo. This was Hannah's first visit to the zoo. Even though Dan and I both enjoyed our time there, I think it being Hannah's first visit made it even more enjoyable. We got lots of great pictures to remind her later of this special day.
The lions just chilling.

Dan was told not to feed the animals, but he didn't think Hannah counted!

When we approached the apes, the ape pictured above was asleep. Ross, Brian, Jonathan, and Dan all watched him closely making different comments. Then all of a sudden the ape jumped up and stood in front of the guys. Needless to say, all the guys took a jump back. Don't mess with the apes!

We were able to see the sea lion show that afternoon. The trainer introduced us to Andre (14 year old male) and Chloe (20 year old female). They had some really funny tricks, ranging from acting like a seal (balancing ball on nose), to answering the trainer's question, "what do we do when you act bad, Andre?" Andre's answer was him slapping his butt.

Chloe showing off how strong she is.

On Sunday, we had Hannah's dedication ceremony at Oakland Presbyterian Church. The pastor called us up in front of the congregation and had a member of the church present us with a pretty pink bible for Hannah.

All in all, it was a pretty enjoyable weekend. The weather was so nice that we even got to lounge in the backyard with the doggies.

Cat's away...

Have you ever heard the phrase "when the cat's away, the mice will play"? Well, it turns out in our house the phrase is "when the door is left open, the dogs will dig in the trash can for dirty diapers". I went upstairs to the Rec Room to check my email on Friday and found the door open and a very dirty diaper ripped to shreds on the floor. Lovely. Just lovely.
My dogs are awesome!

Friday night Brandy and David came to hang out. Brandy was awesome in taking care of Hannah while we hung out. She is such a natural when it comes time to changing diapers, feeding, or burping Hannah, and Hannah loved spending time with Brandy. She would be awesome come time to babysit, except for the fact that when I go out I am wanting to hang out with her!

Brandy and Hannah quality time

David and Atticus quality time

Sunday morning we went to church where Pastor Laine announced to the congregation that there would be a dedication for the birth of Hannah next Sunday (February 8th) at Oakland Presbyterian Church and a baptism on February 15th at Faith Lutheran Church (the old church we attended before moving to Oakland).

Hannah and I in our church attire

The weather is so nice today that we decided to spend some family time in our backyard. Dan and I got to enjoy some reading time, Oliver and Atticus got a chance to run around and bark at random things, and Hannah enjoyed her Playmat with music.

Oliver wondering why I wasn't paying attention to him.
Atticus finally feeling better and adventurous.

The only other news is that tonight is the Super Bowl. I have no clue who is playing, but it is an excuse to hang out with Jonathan and Trista. Yay Super Bowl!
