Weekend in Review

Weekend in review...I learned that a 5 month old can have diarrhea and vomit at the same time, Daniel shaved his facial hair (and had fun doing so), and I painted a trashcan. It is official...we are dorks!

While eating breakfast Friday morning at IHOP with my friend Manda, Hannah became sick, or at least showed the first signs of being sick. We went to her doctor's office and hung out for the next two hours while they tried to determine what might be wrong...conclusion=stomach virus. I will repeat what I have been saying from the beginning though...Hannah is an awesome baby! The only indication that she doesn't feel well is that she is not as happy as she normally is, but then right after she gets sick, she is back to Happy Hannah! I love my little monkey!

Daniel has been saying that he would shave his facial hair when it became summer time in Memphis...well, it has arrived. It might not be official for a few more weeks, but it sure does feel like summer! Daniel has had a beard and mustache since we started dating in 2004, so I didn't remember what he looked like without. Of course, it would not be Daniel if he did not experiment with the different styles that he could have....

Thankfully he will be shaving the rest of the facial hair off before he goes to work tomorrow. I couldn't look at him without laughing, much less carry on a conversation with him looking like the picture above!

My weekend was spent cleaning up after Hannah and laughing at my husband, but I also painted. I went to Hobby Lobby earlier this week in search of wooden letters for a project I am doing. Thankfully I found the letters and they were on sale, marked down 40%, along with the other unfinished wood products. So I also picked up a trashcan for Hannah's bathroom. Many of you know that the nursery is done in a Dr. Seuss theme and that theme was carried into the bathroom right next to the nursery. I was able to find Dr. Seuss inspired bathroom motif at Pottery Barn Kids. I purchased a shower curtain and rug in the "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" theme, but didn't like the trashcan they had, so I made my own...

I can't wait to see how it looks in Hannah's bathroom!

More Memorial Day Fun

The rain has been off and on this weekend, so I didn't think I would get any pictures of Hannah in her new pool because she wouldn't be able to get in the pool. Well, the rain held off for a little while this morning so I could get the temperature correct for Miss Hannah (she doesn't like cold water!)...and her dad finally got to see Hannah showing off her mad skills in the pool. She will be able to out swim him soon!

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend was the last of the festivities that make up Memphis in May. Symphony in the park took place Saturday afternoon and ran until that evening with a big firework show as the finale...or so we have been told.

Dan, Hannah, and I planned on attending Symphony in the Park this year and were very excited about it. Last year, Dan and I attempted to take part in the festivities, but it started raining while we were driving there. This year we made it all the way down to the BP station at the entrance to the park. Dan ran inside to get cash from the ATM for parking, and by the time he walked outside, it looked like we were back in Florida in the middle of a hurricane. So, we called Brandy and David and invited ourselves to their house to hang out. Thankfully we had a cute baby, so Brandy couldn't turn us down!

Hannah just chilling with Aunt B.

Oddly enough it did not rain in Germantown (where David and Brandy live). So we were able to hang out outside all evening. It was a pretty fun time. David grilled some brauts and we just sat on their patio the rest of the evening having fun with good friends.

Hannah is so not interested in this picture!
Hannah: "Daddy, you have food in your beard! Can I have it?"
And Hannah crashes after a long day.

The reason Hannah thought this was a long day is that it started pretty early with us helping our friend Manda move. But Hannah did get a reward for being so awesome during the move. We made a pit stop at IHOP for some breakfast before the moving expedition...and there was a man making balloon animals. He made a monkey hanging onto a banana tree for our little monkey.
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

John and Yisel (plus Alice) visit

This past weekend Daniel's friend from childhood, John Prugh, came to visit. His girlfriend, Yisel, and dog, Alice, came along for the ride. We have not seen John since our wedding in December of 2006...so lots of entertainment was had by all!

Here John and Daniel are rocking out on Guitar Hero. Sadly, you cannot see the awesome Aviator glasses John was sporting!

Friday morning I faced a dilemma, whether to be a good mother and take my daughter out of her crib as soon as she woke up...or take a picture of her because she was just so darn cute. Of course I took a picture!
She looks like she is trying to break out of jail!

That night Brandy and David were kind enough to watch Hannah, while we went downtown for Memphis in May BBQ Fest. Everyone knows that Memphis is known for their BBQ, but is it just the restaurants that know how to do it up right or can the regular folk bring out the good flavor in BBQ? All I got to say is those baked beans I had that night were the best I have ever had!

The BBQ Fest consists of different tents showcasing their talents in different areas of BBQing. Some contestants had a talent for their food, as well as the team shirts and names of their teams. Daniel's favorite name was the "Porkosaurus"...hmmm, I wonder why? Maybe for his love of dinosaurs and his love of BBQ...best of both worlds!

The next day I had to take a time out from all the excitement of John and Yisel's visit to co-host a baby shower for my friend Kristin. She is due the middle of June. Here are a few pictures from the fun event.
The main staging area. Kristin's throne (rocking chair). The centerpiece is a diaper cake that I made. It was also a present for Kristin. Can you guess how many diapers are in there? I will give you some hints. There is another present in the middle. The bottom layer consists of Huggies Size 2 diapers and the top three layers consist of Pampers Size 1 diapers. (Answer at the bottom of this blog...don't cheat!)

Table with all the wonderful food. Those are felt waxed diapers with dinner mints in them. My friend Brandy gave me the idea and helped me make them. The napkins are cloth diapers that I will make into burp rags after I wash them.

Here I am with the Mom-to-be and her daughter Grace (9).

You might be wondering what Daniel, Hannah, John, and Yisel were doing during all my fun...the went back downtown. Daniel and Hannah showed John and Yisel Beale Street and the Peabody Hotel. I don't know how Yisel and Hannah survived the boys crazyness, but they were both in one piece when I joined them for a little bit of BBQ at the Rendevous. Hannah tried to talk me into letting her have some BBQ since she has now started eating solids. I had to explain to her that pureed carrots are a little bit different than a small order of Rendevous's dry rub ribs. She wasn't too happy with her mommy.
All in all it was a great weekend, and I can't wait to visit John and Yisel in New Orleans in June. I am really upset that I didn't get any pictures of Alice with our dogs. Alice is John's mother's boxer. She is still a puppy and has lots of energy. Lets just say she gave Oliver and Atticus a workout and all the dogs slept well this past weekend!

How many diapers in the Diaper Cake? 190

Green Binky

Just wanted to show everyone what I found this morning when I went to say Hello to Hannah. She was awake looking at her mirror (blue thing attached to crib) and holding on to her binky (green half bear/half blanket). We got that from our friend Shannon, who lives down in Pompano Beach, Florida with her daughter Armani. Armani calls our daughter "Hannah Bontana"...I wonder where she got that idea.

Someone so kindly let me know that I had not posted anything on the blog since April 27th. Now I won't name any names...(cough) Shannon (cough)...out of the kindness of my heart, but I will try to do better on posting pictures of Hannah.

This past week we purchased the Precious Planet Jumparoo for Hannah. My friend Angi recommended looking into getting a Jumparoo or Exersaucer for Hannah, because she seemed to like the Exersaucer at Angi's house everytime that we went over to visit. I debated on what brand, which is best...and came to the decision that a Jumparoo would be best because of how much Hannah loves to jump! If you have ever held Hannah, then you know this is a fact!
It took Hannah a few tries to get use to it but she now seems to enjoy it. The Jumparoo is in our upstairs Rec Room where Dan and I work out. While Dan is working out after work, Hannah likes to join in by jumping around and smiling...we think this is her way of cheering him on!

Hannah has also started grabbing her bottle. The small 6 ounce bottles she can handle, but the 8 ounce bottles are still a little too much work.

This last part of the posting is my favorite! I love to hear Hannah giggle! She has shown a liking to raspberries...
