Birthday, Shelves, & Itchy Nose

Last Thursday was my 26th birthday! Hannah decided as my birthday treat she would show me what a big girl she is becoming by sitting in her chair. This chair was given to me my first Christmas by Papaw Davis (my mother's dad). This was an awesome gift from Hannah!
To celebrate my birthday, I had a girls' night with my friends Brandy and Manda. We went to Chili's in Cordova and then went to see a movie at Malco Theaters. We saw The Ugly Truth, which was hilarious, but we all had an old moment when we found out the price of tickets! (Old Moment: "In my day, tickets were this price and we walked three miles in the snow to get there.")

We drove in the "Mom's car", i.e. my jeep which happened to have oddities in it. Example, Daniel had just put up sun visors on the back windows and left the extra sticky cups in the car, which Manda happened to find...
...buggy eyes...

...Frankenstein's bride...

...Alien from Outer Space (they are in her ears)...

Even though I told the ladies that my birthday present was them going out with me minus Hannah, Manda insisted on a present, which included tattoo sleeves from Target's $1 bin...
On Saturday, Brandy helped me spend my birthday money on clothes while our husbands, Daniel and David, put together some awesome shelves for the garage. They did a great job!

Assignment Completed

The past month Hannah has been eating pureed food (potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, apples, pears) and has been doing a great job! This past week I hung out with my friend Holly, who has twins Eva and Grayden, and she suggested introducing Hannah to the item pictured below (can't think of the name for the life of me!). It is like a pacifier but has a netting area that you can place fruit in (pears, watermelon) and not have to worry about the baby choking on seeds or skin. Hannah seems to enjoy it so far!

I'm sure a lot of you know by now the fun that Hannah has presented me in the decoration of her nursery...she ripped apart her crib bedding that I made three times before I finally gave up and bought her bedding from Pottery Barn Kids. I decided to keep with the Dr. Seuss theme...but still wanted something that I created in there! So I decorated her bookcase and dresser...and it took a LONG time to finish, but it is finally DONE!

Each side of the bookcase has 5 characters drawn on it and the dresser has 3 characters total (2 sides, 1 top).

Last Night

Last night we went over to David and Brandy's place for dinner. Brandy fed Hannah her first piece of watermelon...

St. Louis Arch

The first weekend in August, I switched first-borns with my mother. She took Hannah for the weekend and I took Joshua, my brother, for the weekend. I'm sure Hannah had a fun time, but we had a blast!

We went to St. Louis for the weekend to go to Six Flags on Saturday and the Arch on Sunday. We had a big group of people: Robin, Ian, Brandy, Sheri, Joshua, Manda, Dan, and me. Manda was in charge of taking pictures with her digital camera, but didn't realize until we got into Six Flags that the batteries weren't charged on the camera...Oops!!

So, no pictures of Six Flags...but no one wants to remember the Ferris Wheel!

On Sunday, we went to the Arch. It was too sunny to take a picture of the Arch outside, so here is the model...
To get to the top of the Arch and the viewing deck, you must climb into this LITTLE egg shaped pod with 4 other adults. Imagine 5 adults crammed into a LITTLE egg shaped pod...someone's going to hurt their head (like Joshua so graciously demonstrated for us). Oh, and did I mention that the LITTLE egg shaped pods shake while moving through the Arch...they do!

Back on solid ground...YAY!!!

Technically the trip from St. Louis to Memphis takes 4.5 hours...we left St. Louis at 2:30pm and got to Memphis at 9:45pm...still have no clue how that happened. We decided that since we were already exhausted, we might as well try to play a game that requires a lot of attention, because that makes sense, right?

We ordered pizza, had some beer, and played Cranium Board Game...oddly enough I can't remember who won.
Boys' Team

For one of the cards, Daniel was suppose to use someone from the opposite team to act out a person. Daniel was so excited when he got the card and it said "referee"...he didn't realize how difficult that task was going to be for Joshua to guess...
(sorry about the turned picture, Walgreens Picture CD won't allow me to rotate it)
Manda got the same card saying that she had to use a person from the opposite team to act something out for me to guess. Her card said "surfer".

All in all, it was a great weekend!

Educational TV?

Who says TV can't be educational? Hannah has been teething and she really is not a fan of teething rings or pacifiers, so when she started teething again (top), Dan decided to try something that he saw on TV. He decided to use a cold waffle from the freezer...it worked!
Dresser finally finished and in the nursery...

I think Hannah likes it!
