Weekend Fun

So these pictures start off from the last posting. While I was posting last week, Hannah came in to show me her new towel which is a Bunny Towel. She was just too cute to not take a picture!
Friday (April 23rd) somebody woke up in a awful mood and stayed that way even after her nap. She took apart her play area upstairs just so she could throw things around and then sat by the trashcan on top of one of the bins that holds her toys. I think this might be a great "time out" area in the future!
The only time Hannah was happy on Friday was when she stole the computer chair, climbed up in it, and starting banging on the keyboard. This lasted all of 5 minutes...until she hit too many buttons at one time and locked the computer up. Then she cried for about 5 minutes not understanding why the computer wasn't working.
We had a really awesome time Saturday morning. Our friend Jessica Rester came over to take pictures. Jessica has been working on photography for the past year, but was in need of some tiny subjects. Gryffyn and Hannah were more than happy to volunteer (or be volunteered by their mother).

There are some really good ones in there! We wanted to try to capture some pictures outside...but with the storms on Saturday, it just wasn't possible. The storms caused us to just have a lazy Saturday the rest of the day. We hung out and just watched movies together...perfect activity when it's raining outside.

Sunday was gorgeous! We decided to blow up the Splash 'N' Colossal Swimming Pool for Hannah to try out. While putting on Hannah's sunscreen (outside) we realized that Hannah is still allergic to grass if it gets in her face. Hannah touched the grass, and then rubbed her eyes, and this is what happened...
After a nap, some Benedryl, and a few hugs...she finally tried out the pool.

Earning keep

This past Saturday (April 17, 2010) was the 28th Annual Youth Villages 5K Race here in Memphis. It was the second year Hannah and I volunteered, and the first year for Gryffyn (for obvious reasons). We began volunteering because of our friend's (the girls "Aunt B") involvement and organization of the kid's tent for the past nine years. This seemed like such an important event to her, that we just had to help support the cause!

Hannah exhausted after the day. She had her face painted (pink butterfly) and became a deputy sheriff of Shelby County (badge she is chewing on).

Today (April 22, 2010), Hannah turned 16 months. Daniel and I decided that she needed to start earning her keep around the house. She is now in charge of helping Daniel feed the dogs at night, while I feed them in the morning before she wakes up. Hannah seemed up to the task...

In Gryffyn news...we have scheduled her appointment for her one month checkup in two weeks and we will find out if/how much she has gained. She weighed less than Hannah when she was born, which made Daniel and I nervous because she seems so fragile (to us at least). I know that she has gained weight, because she can now fit into some of Hannah's newborn clothes. This is a huge accomplishment because it means (after we get the ok from the doctor), Gryffyn can start letting us know when she is hungry instead of us forcing her to wake up every few hours.

Also...Hannah looking through her completed book of family. Since most of our family lives in other areas, we made a book for Hannah with individual pictures of members of the family so she can start learning their names and faces. We think this will make it easier for her when we go to visit those family members.

Rec Room and Stomach Bug

Nothing really happened yesterday, mainly because I was hit by a stomach bug. Oh what fun! The girls and I just hung out upstairs a majority of the day in the Playroom/Rec Room. While Hannah napped, I thought it would be a good idea to straighten up a little bit because I was feeling a little bit better.

This is Hannah's storage area for her toys in the Playroom/Rec Room. This is before Hannah woke up from her nap...

This is five minutes after Hannah woke up from her nap...

Needless to say, Hannah found it pretty funny...

Gryffyn could have cared less...

the weekend

Thursday night Brandy, David, and Andy came over to hang out with the girls (and maybe their parents too). I had to excuse myself around 9PM to go to sleep...I know, I know...I'm boring, but I just had a kid!

We had a great time hanging out and eating Pork Chop Fajitas and the boys got to make fun of Brandy and I for watching New Moon, which was AWESOME!

Late Saturday night, Gryffyn lost the last of her umbilical cord, and got to have her first official bath on Sunday. Before that time, we were giving her sponge baths. Hannah watched while we bathed her little sister, and didn't seem to understand the big deal and why Gryffyn was crying. Obviously Hannah does not remember her first bath and what an ordeal that turned out to be!

Sunday night, the Calhouns invited us over for dinner. We had chicken burritos, with the most amazing homemade guacamole I have had in awhile! It was extremely spicy, but OH SO GOOD! We also tried grilled cactus for the first time. It is good in a burrito, but a little to tart tasting by itself.

Just too cute!

These are just too cute not to share. I took these pictures today in hopes of creating a birth announcement for Gryffyn. Hannah tried to steal the show though. Hope ya'll enjoy!

Easter weekend

We are so lucky to be living where we do...no, I'm not talking about our specific house in Oakland. I mean Memphis, because we have made such great friends! That was evident the day after Gryffyn arrived. People came in droves to see the new member of our family. Pastor Griffin from Faith Lutheran Church came earlier in the morning, and the guests just kept coming...

Mike, Kristin, and Claire Dickerson (with Gryffyn)

Lauri Lankford (with Gryffyn) came by with Terry and Karalyn Vavra

Hannah didn't really understand why she had to go to a hospital room two days in a row, but she did get presents...so there were no complaints. Lauri brought Hannah a cute outfit to match Gryffyn's outfit. Aunt B and Uncle David brought the girls a cute alligator stuffed animal and Terry and Karalyn brought Hannah a stroller, and Gryffyn another cute outfit. My girls are ready for the cameras in all the outfits they got...but I am kinda jealous that I don't have a reason to shop now since our friends took care of it for me!

Hannah put monkey and her sister's binky in the stroller and had some fun!

When we arrived home on Friday, my parents, my brother Joshua and all of us decided to hang out on the back porch and just visit. It was such a beautiful day!

Easter arrived on Sunday and the Easter Bunny left plenty of gifts for both the girls!
