these girls look pretty tired, don't they?

That would be because they had an exhausting day spoiling their dad on Father's Day. We started the day off by cooking breakfast for Daniel and my folks. We made strawberry pancakes and bacon. After such a delicious and thoughtful (can you tell who cooked?) breakfast, my parents headed back to Birmingham.

Hannah and Gryffyn spoiled Daniel the rest of the day by taking naps while he played video games in peace. After Hannah finished her nap, she talked Daniel into not cutting the front yard. Instead she suggested he show her how to use her new golf clubs. The girls told me that it was important their dad took time out for himself and go golfing once in awhile so he would be good like his friends Alan and Kyle. Hannah presented him some money in a Father's Day card Sunday morning attached to her new golf club set. She told him to use that money specifically at the driving range.

After a brief lesson, Daniel and Hannah decided to cool off by playing in the sprinkler...

Gryffyn seemed to get a kick out of their foolishness...
Today we had a very low stress day after such an eventful weekend. Played with some legos, had some Tummy Time, and of course took some pictures. Hope you all enjoy!

This past weekend we went to different parts of South Florida to visit friends and attend a wedding. By this time Hannah could apply for frequent flier miles, but this was Gryffyn's first flight. On the flight to Miami, both girls did well. We had a little bit of trouble getting on the plane due to a flight supervisor not believing that car seats could be checked baggage. We wanted to check the car seats instead of carry them on due to both girls being held during the flight. Once we got everything sorted out, we made the flight by a few minutes and had a few people doubting how quiet the girls would be. I am very happy to say that we proved those people wrong by having both girls happy as can be. Gryffyn fell asleep after she took her bottle during takeoff, and Hannah had one fussy moment when she saw Momma, but was pretty happy to sit in my lap and color in her coloring book once we got adjusted.

We flew into Miami International Airport, rented a car and drove down to Islamorada, FL which was were our friends John and Yisel got married. The resort was beautiful! We went straight to the beach to find our friends when we arrived and spent a few minutes in the ocean. It was extremely hot water...felt like a cross between bathwater and hot tub water. I don't know if it was because of it being hurricane season or the oil spill, but needless to say we had to get out to go cool down in the resort pool. I really liked the resort pool because it had a shallow section that allowed Hannah to walk in and out of the pool, this made it much easier to watch and play with Hannah while holding Gryffyn.

After a little bit of pool time, we went to get ready for the rehearsal dinner at Islande Grill. We had a great time hanging out with the wedding party and getting to know some of the bride and groom's family. The groom, John Prugh, has known Daniel since Daniel was eight and John was five. This means John's dad and sister had lots of great stories for me to listen to (and laugh at).

The girls and I dressed up for the rehearsal dinner.

You might be wondering how we kept an 18-month old entertained during the rehearsal dinner...well it started out with Hannah coloring in her coloring book after dinner...

and ended with her pouring sand in her dad's shoes.

The wedding did not take place until Saturday evening. While Daniel and the rest of the wedding party practiced walking in a straight line, the girls and I went to the resort pool for about an hour to have some fun. Afterward Dan joined us as we went to a really good seafood restaurant called Ma's Grill. Hannah and I both tried Blackened Shrimp for the first time and I have to say it was pretty amazing! After lunch, Cody invited us out on a boat trip to look around Islamorada Island and go snorkeling. We had to rent a boat a few miles down from the resort, and by the time the renters finished explaining the rules and procedures, the girls had been out in the sun for 30 minutes and were sweating off the sunscreen lotion as soon as we could apply it. So after a few pictures, the girls and I decided to go back to the resort for a nap while Daniel went with the others snorkeling. I am very happy that it worked out that way and think that it helped the girls be so happy during the wedding and reception.

Trying to keep a little bit of our schedule in balance by reading before bed.

As the newlyweds left Sunday morning for their honeymoon in Puerto Rico, we went further north to Kendall (right outside of Miami) to visit friends. We were able to hang out at the Williamsons' lake house. Dave Williamson and his wife Kristi went to college with Daniel at Auburn and they have two little boys, Carter (3 years) and Owen (9 months). Another one of Daniel's college buddies, Bink, was able to join us for the day with his girlfriend Kristin.

After a day at the lake, we checked into our hotel in Fort Lauderdale and cleaned up a bit. For dinner we joined our friend Shannon and Sweet Tomatoes. Her daughter Armani is five years old and an extremely big help with the girls.

We left Florida Monday evening, but before we left we tried to stop by different restaurants Daniel and I enjoyed when we lived in Fort Lauderdale. We tried to stop by Osaka which was a sushi restaurant that we loved down there! We opted not to eat there because the owner we knew (who made the dining experience amazing) had sold the restaurant and had moved. So we drove down to the beach to Lulu's Baitshack in hopes of having some Snow Crab Legs. They had stopped serving Snow Crab Legs about a year previous (strike two for us). But we were still able to enjoy some drinks on the beach and try some of their Blackened Mahi, which was pretty good. Hannah showed us something that both her grandmothers enjoy...eating lemons whole slices.
