Busy Bees!
I think I jinxed myself during the last posting on this blog. As soon as I posted "because we haven't had that much going on lately",
I got bombarded with stuff to do. Hannah has started to walk around the house as long as she has something to hang onto, such as a chair or the coffee table. Dan has started competing in swim meets and I have been busy with Gospel Street Puppets.
Dan's first swim meet was suppose to take place in Florence, AL on Sept. 26th but was canceled due to flooding. Kinda ironic that a swim meet was canceled due to flooding, but whatever! So his first swim meet ended up taking place here in Memphis at the University of Memphis with the Southeastern Swim League (SES) on the United States Masters Swimming (USMS). On day one (10/17/2009) his times were...52.49 in the 100 Freestyle, 23.68 50 split on the relay, and 5:31 on 500 Freestyle. Day two (10/18/2009) his times were...1:58 in the 200 Freestyle, 1:01.29 in the 100 backstroke, 23.55 in the 50 Freestyle (he placed!), 27.89 in 50 backstroke leadoff on the medley relay.
Hannah and I were very upset that we couldn't be there, but we had puppet performances that weekend. I think Dan was pretty excited though, cause that meant no pictures were taken!I signed up this year to help my friend, Karalyn Vavra, with sponsoring the Gospel Street Puppets at Faith Lutheran Church in Collierville, TN. We meet with the team once a week (Thursday nights from 6-7pm) to practice, and we perform once a month at both church services (8:30 & 11). We also perform for special events like LWML rally, Christmas parade, and Fair on the Square.
This year, our team consists of 6 wonderful girls, who have kindly adopted Hannah as an honorary member. As I mentioned before, the puppets had two performances the same weekend as Dan's swim meet. We had a performance for LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) on Saturday (10/17/2009) and both church services at Faith Lutheran Church on Sunday (10/18/2009).
Below are some pictures of the girls practicing for our upcoming skit in November...

This weekend my brother Joshua came to visit. We had a very relaxing weekend and mainly just hung around the house. Joshua hadn't seen Hannah in a while and could not get over how mobile she was now! We did manage to go to the zoo on Saturday with my friend Manda Blodgett. It was kinda chilly, but totally worth it to see the new exhibits the zoo had for Grizzly Bears and Timber wolves. We also got to see the decorations for Zoo Boo, which is a huge hit here in Memphis. It takes place each night the last two weeks of October and includes costume contests, Trick-or-Treat stations, and scary stations. We decided not to do that this year because of everything else going on, but we will be all about it next year!
Hannah debating which one to throw into the monkey exhibit...hmm, tough choice!
Hannah: "Dad, I said I wanted Mommy, not Mummy!"
Hannah: "Just a little nibble to tide me over until lunch!"
