Relay for Life, Pool, Avatar

The title to this blog post pretty much sums up our weekend...or at least the photographed ones. Saturday morning I attended my friend Lauri's daughter's dance recital. It was SO cute, but of course I forgot my camera!

About the time I got home, Daniel was cutting the backyard while our neighbor Georgia watched the girls. Georgia has two adorable twins who will be three in August. Their names are Jake and Julia. Hannah loves playing with both of them, and Gryffyn seemed to love sleeping in Julia's crib. After Hannah took her nap, we headed to the Relay for Life event here in Oakland. We didn't participate in a team this year, but we loved seeing people join together for a great cause! They had lots of games and entertainment for little kids. Hannah loved the bouncy house and walking around the baseball field with her dad.

When we got home, Gryffyn seemed to want to be a monkey like her sister. She was using my hair to climb up.
On Sunday we went to church and by the time we returned home, both girls were out! While they finished their naps, I worked on the front garden. I didn't take any pictures because it's not as pretty as my Mamaw's or my dad's. But as soon as it does look that pretty, trust me...I will take TONS of pictures! When Hannah woke up, she was ready to play in the pool. She was so excited that she didn't give me time to put on her bathing suit!

We were all exhausted after the pool (whether we played or watched), so we hunkered down to watch Avatar until bedtime...which included lots of good cuddling.

Hannah achievement announcement...She is now eating grapes!

Graduation and Recitals

Last night, Daniel and I attended the Germantown High School Graduation Ceremony. We went to support our friend Kandi's daughter, Alex. Alex will be attending University of Memphis this fall to study music. She is the girl with blond hair in the picture below. This is the closest Daniel could get during the ceremony. Hannah and Gryffyn were very happy that we went to the ceremony last night, because this meant that they got to play with Mrs. Debbie and Ms. Sara at our house.
Here is a picture of the finished bag for my friend Lauri's daughter, Lindsey. Lindsey will be performing in her first dance recital on Saturday and I thought I would try my hand at making a bag for her that she can use next year. I love the way the embroidery turned out, but I'm not too happy with the tutu. This is a work in progress.

Last Thursday, Daniel met the girls and I at the mall after work. The girls were helping me return some items, and look for dresses for themselves. We succeeded in both tasks and rewarded ourselves with some downtime in the play area at the mall. This is a great part to break up a shopping trip for little ones. I was able to feed Gryffyn, while keeping an eye on Hannah playing with others her age and size. The area is enclosed, has a diaper changing station, and hand sanitizer for when the kids are done playing. Daniel joined in the fun just when Hannah got into the groove of things (more adventurous).

That night we joined our Trivia Group friends at Brandy and David's house, where Hannah tried to steal Brandy's purse. What can I say? She really likes the color pink!
Today (Sunday) we decided to attend the 3rd Annual Israeli Festival with Jonathan and Trista Dobkins, and their son Jonathan Elijah. We weren't able to be there as long as we would have liked due to it being so hot and humid. The Israeli Festival offered music, history, food, and a petting zoo. You can guess which one was a hit with our group.

Also a major accomplishment for Gryffyn this weekend...she has started to follow the mobile on her swing when it plays music. Before now, she has just stared off in space or cried when placed in the swing.
My big news from this weekend...MY SCRAPBOOK ROOM/MOM'S ROOM IS COMPLETE!!!(thank you Daniel and David). You might have seen a previous posting about my bookshelves in the back of my closet, but I now have a desk installed so I can organize my scrapbook materials, and other crafty supplies. David made an awesome desk for me...even taking the time to round the edge sticking out of the wall (due to my clumsiness and tendency to run into things), stained the wood, and ironed on edging for it to look more finished.

Projects I have completed so far...
trashcan for the girls' new room

jewelry boxes (one for each)

jewelry boxes (one for each)

sign above Gryffyn's bed (new room)

sign above Hannah's bed (new room)

(new room)=we will be putting the girls in one room when Gryffyn starts sleeping through the night on a regular basis. The colors will be green, purple, and pink mainly with some yellow and light blue thrown in. We are on our way to this goal because Gryffyn has slept through two nights this past week.

graffiti at an early age

This afternoon when Daniel got home we had a little bit of fun drawing on our backyard fence with the girls. Yes, we are teaching Hannah and Gryffyn how to graffiti our fence with chalk and pictures of dinosaurs.
