Pretend Sleepover

Last Friday, Lauren and Alexandra came over for a "pretend sleepover". We met Alexandra at storytime at the local library a few months ago and have been having a blast every time we get together. Hannah calls her "my friend Alex". It's "my friend Alex coming to library", or "my friend Alex going to play with us". Thankfully, both girls include Gryffyn into the fun AND Lauren (my friend) is expecting another little girl in 9 weeks!

When Alexandra and Lauren came over (after naps) on Friday, we headed outside because it's hard to pass up this nice weather. Lauren and I joked that the girls went on their "first road trip" in the jeep. They were more concerned about their "tunes" then turning the wheel.

When it started to get dark, we headed inside to play dress up and destroy the playroom!
After Daniel brought us home yummy pizza to eat, we settled in for an awesome movie--TINKERBELL!

week in review

It FINALLY got cold in South Florida on the 5th of January! It was 54 degrees out that Thursday morning. Of course as I write this, it is January 13th and it is 77 degrees out. BUT for that one day it was cold enough to wear cute long sleeve dresses with turtlenecks underneath.

Next day is was warm enough, and fun enough to wear our dress up clothes. We have had so much fun dressing up and using our Pretend Closet that holds those dress clothes.

This past Monday our local library started up the winter session of storytime. It's an 8 week long session, and we have so much fun singing, dancing, and listening to our librarian, Ms. Sue, tell stories related to the theme of the week. This week's theme was stars. The girls made pictures with stars on them telling what they wished for. Gryffyn wished for Eeyore (because she left him in the car during storytime) and Hannah wished for a cookie (we went to Publix grocery store after storytime).

The public schools didn't start back in session until Tuesday, the 10th, so the girls were able to play with our neighbors outside right after we woke up from naps Monday afternoon.

These next two pictures have nothing to do with storytime or playing on the cool cars that Dearie and Papa bought for the girls, but it is too funny not to include. I came home from working out the other night to find Atticus extremely relaxed and couldn't resist taking a picture. I can't believe he is 8 years old!

Today we switched out the girls beds so that Gryffyn is in a big girl bed--she tried to climb out of her bed last night! Also, she sleeps in a big girl bed at Dearie and Papa's house, so I think she is ready for the challenge!

Noon Year's Eve

It's funny how much has changed in five years! Daniel and I were married on December 31st of 2006. In five short years we have moved four times, owned two homes, had two kids, and tolerated two stinky dogs.  Also, in those five short years we have celebrated New Year's Eve/our anniversary in many different ways.

2007--Friends Jonathan and Trista were married on the 29th and we watched Auburn football with friends that were still in town for the wedding.
2008--we were celebrating with our 9 day old Hannah and cheered her arrival with our nephew Hunter (who stayed up for the first time-age 9 years) and his mother with apple juice.
2009--hung out with our friends the Burkes and were attacked by a stomach virus 2 days later
2010--went to Delray Beach and ate pizza at Mellow Mushroom

And this year we celebrate Noon Year's Eve at Downtown at the Gardens with our friends the Hollands (Hans, Lauren--pregnant with Elizabeth, and Alexandra--age 3 years). Downtown at the Gardens is a local outdoor mall that caters to the younger crowd with lots of kid boutiques, maternity stores, pottery stores for kids to make keepsakes and other such things. They also have lots of restaurants that are kid-friendly and a carousel in the middle. On the last Wednesday of the month, as well as special events (like Noon Year's Eve), the carousel is free. Fruitopia (yogurt place) gave out apple juice in special glasses and A Latte Fun (kids' playground company) made special crowns and tiaras for the event.

You might see Gryffyn holding a wooden spoon in the pictures. The Hollands gave us a wooden spoon with a pretty ribbon on it to congratulate us on our five years of marriage. Five years is the year of wood.

Gryffyn has started playing with baby dolls more and wanting to put them in their cribs. Here is she giving Eeyore that special attention only a mother can!
New Year's Eve at 7:30 central Auburn played Virginia. After the girls got dressed in their Auburn attire, we went to Uncle Princess Bacon's house to watch the game with him and his dad.

The girls were very entertained by Winnie the Pooh movie on our laptop while we watched the game.
Hannah was her adorable self crawling into the tunnel we set up in the front room and read a book that evening (trying to hide from bedtime).
